Armor by John Steakley.
Its kinda like SST (Right down to the powersuits and giant "ants) but its more about being a grunt with crappy logistics than politics. Its pretty good, the backstory involving Felix is pretty interesting.
As is the subplot (or in actuality, the main plot) with the other characters.
Its good if you like the monster vs. man, man vs. himself, type books.
