I don't care if gay people appear in a game. I voted for the "Could Be" option, since I don't really mind either way, but it could indeed become cliched; it could be no different than seeing a black guy portrayed as a pimp or an Italian guy portrayed as a mobster. Those kind of stereotypes aren't exactly respectful. Of course, I'm not saying all game companies would do this.
As long as the focus isn't on the characters being gay - they're just ordinary characters in the game, like everyone else - I don't see any problem with it. I mean, I'd get sick of *any* characters if they were considered more important than the actual game they were a part of.
