Those two sites are your friend. Get rid of the xhtml errors and let jigsaw check the site.
And remember, IEs box model is completely broken so if you make something look fine in IE it will usually look completely different in anything else.

I'd help more, but I refuse to help the turds from MS hide the fact that their browser is totally broken.

Try visiting places like position is everything or zen garden, they have endless pages telling you how to find workarounds for IEs craptastic CSS implementations.
i agree really, the fact that it works in IE was only a unexpected surpise, i'm making it to work in firefox and it did work untill i started adding content.
