i didn't think it was possible that the acting could actually get any worse than first film but i was wrong. the characters were just like kimberly said, complete and utter wooden cardboard cut out characters with with some of the cheesiest acting this side of softcore porn.
the action was all a bit dark and hard to make out. the pred was pretty much invincible and only gets minor damage. but from what i could make out, story wise, he was basically a trouble shooter for the preds so it kinda makes sense how hardcore he was but ultimately it's exactly what i expected. predator 3 with aliens in it.
the blood and guts horror side was a lot more akin to to a predator film. although the aliens have some lovely moments.
of the two i would say it's a much more enjoyable film than the first one but it really didn't have much to live up to there. the nods to the other films are really almost obscene in that it looks more like a spoof of the original scene than it really was. and trust me anyone who hasn't seen this movie yet but has seen all the other movies (a/p) will recognize the bastardizations of some of your favorite scenes of all time and you'll notice that they aren't even clever it's pretty much the exact same scene with the strausse's terrible direction with even almost identical dialogue as the original as well.
it seems like almost a direct sequel to predator 2 with avp acting as a rather long prologue it that's how you want to look at it. personally i though the aliens haven't looked worse since aliens and the predator is just as fat and slow as in the first avp. you would think in all the world there would be another tall skinny man who was as capable of moving as agile and gracefully as kevin peter hall. but i suppose the strausses were still going more for the pro wrestler from outerspace thing established in the first avp.
it works if you don't mind a ton of cheese in your cinema or at least if you're a bigger predator fan. alien fans will be terribly let down.
