A lot of girls I've known actually find "pussy" to be more offensive than "cunt," but I'm sure it differs everywhere. I think the high vulgarity and impact of the word "cunt" is to an extent that makes it hard to be taken so seriously, hence why it's funny to call your friends a cunt. Hell, I think even when someone is insulting you with the word, I can't take them seriously at all because it just sounds utterly wannabe-hard, imo.
