i finished the gospel of the FSM and i think that you should all be touched by his noodly appendage

i'm also close to the end of any human heart which is a fascinating confessional of an intriguing life. the diary format actually makes it seem as though it's skimming a surface i want to penetrate with gusto, even though it's almost 500 pages long. perhaps that's the point; a human life is massive and full of a vast gamut of things.

picked up the novelisation of the abyss and i think that's the next thing i'll read

It'd be great if they had a novelty one that had Don't Panic, in large friendly letters on it.

have you seen the film? i was very impressed by that - the score and the cinematography were incredible - an absolute feast of the senses that captured at least the essence of the intensity of grenouille's world and good cast too - hoffman rickman hurt narrating etc.
No I haven't - I will check it out though. I did think the book dragged in places (the it up the top of a mountain, bore-off) but overall it was excellent. I found my sense of smell was heightened when I read the book, my mind was "smelling out" for differen aromas more.

yeah, the movie was quite good at conveying the arresting experience of acute sensory immersion. you can't smell, so it uses crisp and evocative cinematography and beautiful music, and i'm assuming dialogue and narration from the novel which was pretty good as well. i was pretty smashed while i was watching it, so that may have had something to do with it but i do recommend it. the bit on the mountain is hilarious in the film too, it's when he realises what the one thing he cannot smell is isn't it? and he tries his hardest to smell it. nekkid. but yeah, good film, check it out.

i'm done with any human heart which is excellent, and i'd love a beefier account of logan's life but that's the point. also finished the story of how spiderman initially encountered venom; good comic, dealing with moral issues in a psuedo realistic way and good, non-ridiculous character building and conflicts.
