After all, if Ridley Scott only ditched the Dallas cocoon scene because of pacing, and this is about some of the Prometheus crew being transformed into other lifeforms by what they encounter, then for all we know there is no Space Jockey, and the being in the chair is one of the Prometheus crew transformed.

I mean, it's already been established the elephant face is a helmet...

And the transmission the Nostromo picked up was a warning... Why would the Space Jockeys send a warning in Alien after sending an invitation in Prometheus?

As for the rating, it's interesting that Prometheus has got an R in the US but is likely to get the exact same rating as AvP in the UK. I mean, it'd have to be pretty hardcore to get an 18 today, and if Prometheus was that hardcore then there would never have been any speculation that it could get a PG13 in the US.

I am full of questions as well. I think prometheus is will adhere (possibly) to some cannon with the lifcecycle. I remember a a spacejockey mural that showed an alien that seemed to have a queens large head crest.

The R rating is important to me... but not for the gore but to know that i'm going to see a visceral and dark Scifi Horror intended for adults. Thats what I want from Ridley's return to the genre and its something the series needed to restore its impact on todays movie going audience.

although I haven't seen this movie so I hope my hype doesn't blow up in my face. So far though all signs point to

I'd say the last innovative movie scene regarding the shock and horror that it transmitted was the one from The Ring.when the bitch got out of tv.that was fucking scary as hell.at least for me

Whilst I think the landing is far too quick and simple (even accepting the Prometheus is designed for this kind of thing, whilst the Nostromo wasn't), I love the sense of scale. There are great shots in Alien where we see just how tiny the Nostromo is compared to LV426, and just how small LV426 is compared to the planet it's circling. Ridley Scott's done the same kind of thing here, with long shots of a tiny Prometheus entering the cloud cover, and later the valley.

It feels like a lot of it was cut short for the benefit of putting it into a 1 minute preview. I'd like to think those panoramic shots, for instance, of the Prome' entering the planet would be shown for longer to let it soak in and build up the whole majestic nature of it all, you know. But in that preview it feels far too hurried.

Anyway, despite its more sleek look, I think the Prome' ship aesthetically still fits rather well with how the Nostromo looked. I was expecting it to look too Star Trekky, but they've done a good job of making it look real and fit within the universe, I think. I like it a lot. It also shares a lot of similarities with the Betty, as well.

I'm super hyped, I've actually stopped watching any new trailers or footage since before any of the spoilery stuff was shown(didn't watch the landing sequence either). I've heard many of the creatures have been revealed in new tv spots and trailers so im paranoid watching TV.

I know enough to make me hyped but I want to experience the rest at the theatre.

Yes, I read that the latest TV spot has been attacked for having the biggest spoilers yet so I haven't watched it. I think I can wait another week now. Will definitely be going next Saturday and am still waiting to see if someone else can make it for the Friday too. I'm sure by Friday evening the press will be full of 2/5 reviews, so I want to see it myself before I'm exposed to anyone else's disappointment!

You're pretty safe watching the landing sequence, though, and watching it again I'm convinced it's been edited down from a longer sequence, as others suggested.

Does your local cinema show 3D films, Eldritch? I found several cinemas from the UK's Odeon chain aren't showing it, including the one where they do all the world premieres (which from the looks of it is where they're having Prometheus's a week today!). A bunch of us GGers saw The Village there. Has leopard print seats.
