several comics showed the homeworld in all its glory, 'earth war' in particular if i remember correctly, involved a group of marines traveling to the homeworld in order to capture the alien empress.

Its been theorized that they don't have a homeworld and that they are a "developed" species.

Funnily, why would a planet conquered by aliens, or largely inhabited by aliens, would be automatically the aliens's homeworld?

Aliens Book 1 had Hicks and Newt going to the homeworld to get specimens. Aliens Earth War had Hicks, Newt and Ripley going to another homeworld to nab the Queen Mother.
When Alien3 rendered all this null and void and appropriate names were changed, Dark Horse realised they'd shot themselves in the foot and renamed 'homeworld' to 'hiveworld'. But in filmic terms - it's never been mentioned, nor has it been speculated whether Aliens are evolved or engineered (and may it always be so). |

Wilks was a space marine with a near-fatal flaw: he had a heart. Billie was a child, the only survivor of a far-flung colony outpost. Thrown together in the last hellish night of an alien invasion, Billie and Wilks helped each other get out alive. Thirteen years later Wilks is in prison, and Billie lives in a mental institution, the nightmare memories of the massacre at Rim seared into her mind. Now the government has tapped Wilks to lead an expedition to the aliens' home planet to bring back a live alien. But the competition on Earth to develop the aliens as a new weapons system is brutal. When Wilks's team departs on their mission, a trained assassin trails them. And what follows is no less than guerrilla warfare on the aliens' planet--and alien conquest on Earth!

I have 14 comics at home that back it up.
It's been common knowledge for the better part of 10 years. Don't see the similarities between the scarred marine and little girl? Didn't find the Ripley android a bit, well, odd? Originally Ripley turn up in the last panel of the series 2 comics holding the most ridiculously huge gun you've ever seen. On a civilian space station no less. |

I have a TPB which backs that up too. It was Hicks and Newt, trust us. Actually, don't trust us--a Google search will tell you the same thing.

I have all the old TPB's at home with Newt and Hicks and always wondered what exactly the changes between that version and the comic version with Billie and Wilks were (which I don't have). I mean was there different dialogue, and different coloring panels and what not?
And Nightmare Asylum was pretty good (for an Aliens comic), but that goofy ass last panel kinda took all the seriousness out and made me wtf myself. |

The art for the first 2 series was top notch - even Ripley and the gun.
I too have often wondered how they redid Earth War when they changed it to the Female War. The first 2 series would've been easy to fix - just change every 'Hicks' to 'Wilks', every 'Newt' or 'Rebecca' to 'Billie' and every 'LV-426' to 'Rim'. Don't know if they changed 'Butler' to 'Bueller' as per the Perry novel. However in Earth War nearly a whole issue to devoted to Ripley telling Hicks and Newt how the Sulaco was intercepted en route back to Earth and she was forced to go back to the Derelict with more marines to get specimens. Of course the whole thing goes to shit and Ripley is forced to disappear with 2 surviving marines (clones of Drake and Vasquez essentially). But before this she has the co-ordinates of the Alien homeworld zapped into her brain by some bizarre Jockey technology. |

Yep, I remember that. I wonder how they worked in the android bit, and what else they changed right there? The novel excluded the second Lv-426 trip totally. Wonder if the comic did as well.
Ironically, you'd figure that these would be the more available tpb's, but I cant find any tpb's with Billie and Wilks that aren't of an insane price. Can find plenty of Hicks and Newt first three issues though. :| |

'Book 2', with art by Denis Beauvais, was my favourite. A very short two part thing by Dark Horse was done by him as well and is just as great, though mainly for the art, since the story goes a bit weird in places.
