I don't think red China will nuke us all if we have a bootleg thread, but I'll check with the admins. I guess as long as no Torrented material and the like is linked you should be OK I think.
I myself wouldn't mind seeing a decent quality copy of the Alien War feature. So sad that placed closed...

Speaking of odd cuts/editions, does anybody remember seeing Alien on HBO in the eighties?
This must've been '82-'83 (maybe even '81, but I think it was '82)... I can clearly remember a specific scene that was edited differently, but I've enever seen it again: it is the scene where Dallas, Ripley and Ash go to check on Kane, when the facehugger has dropped off. It's hard to explain, but basically, the difference is that it is longer. When they walk in, they walk around a bit and start looking for the FH, Dallas looks into a recess in the wall, and it's then that Ash hands him one of the light thingies, warning him and then saying "use this" or something like that. Then they start looking again, and the FH falls on Ripley. Anyway, I saw that tape (it was a bootleg taped off HBO) many many times and it really struck me when I got my first official Alien VHS that the scene was different. When I got the quadrilogy I thought it might have the (in my eyes) original edition, but no... So, does anybody else remember that? Or was I in a parallel universe? |

Yeah me too.
TV versions generally only cut the "fucks" from Alien. Though I do know they changed the looped "Morning Mother" from Dallas in the VHS version to the production audio in DVD versions. |

This has nothing to do with Alien, but I almost was certain (I would've bet ten dollars) that in The Thing, there was a scene where Nauls was pulled in the floor by the thing.
That scene is mentioned on the DVD (as never having been filmed), but when I recalled seeing it I was young and this was way before DVD's came out. It had Gary getting offed by Blair, then Nauls going to investigate. Once he gets in the general vincinity of where Gary was wasted, there is a creaking in the floor and Nauls is grabbed and pulled under. Then the scene where the floorboards are popping up as Macready tries to run away from the thing happens. It was generally weird that I remember that scene with so much clarity............if it never happened. |

It's like people who swear they saw the Anchorhead scenes in Star Wars when it was originally release. Never happened.
I could swear I saw a scene in Star Wars of Darth Vader's head faintly visible against a starfield, but it's just my 5 year old brain THINKING I saw it since that image is off the back of the original soundtrack which my Dad owned at the time. |

Anchorhead? You mean Hammerhead (Ithorian)?
In that case I can certify without a shadow of a doubt that this guy had been giving me nightmares when I was eight, which means it was definately in the original version. Or did you mean that he wasn't in the original theater release? |

But I couldn't have known about the deleted scene because I didn't use the internet, or have DVD's back then. I don't know where the idea originated from. I was surprised when I finally watched it again and it didn't happen.

You know Hammerhead's are called Ithorians but don't know about the Anchorhead scenes? At the start when Luke sees the blockade runner and Star Destroyer in orbit then runs off to tell his mates and meets Biggs back from the Academy. Maybe you know them as the Tosche Station scenes?
A LOT of people claim to have seen these scenes in the film, when they never were inserted into any theatrical cut of the film. And I think we're getting a teensy bit off topic. I'm going to upload all the video I have of Alien War - just don't know when. There's a TV special from an old show called Beyond 2000 and some home video I shot in the foyer of props. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll get round to it. |

No I don't. In fact I know next to nothing of star wars quirks and deletedness. I only happen to have the core rulebook.

When the tail is near to her, Ripley cuts off its tip with this tool. A fairy-tale? Maybe. But check please the next scene in the airlock. Filmakers forgot to switch off the orange light (destroyed seconds earlier - a well known continuity mistake). But what about the tail? Its tip is missing! I noticed this years ago myself, but I thought "Well, it is just a movie, somebody overlooked that the the costume is not complete." to SM: Any Alien War documentary can be very interesting. | |

One of my bestfriends says he saw the same thing along time ago too.
But he always agrees with me about everything, so I wouldn't consider him a reasonable source of information. |

If the tail tip was cut off there'd be other tell tale signs in the sequence.
Like a hull breach for instance. It's not scripted and I can't see any point in cutting it if it was shot. Couldn't be any more than a few seconds. But one never knows since the tail tip is definately missing. It's possible your friend saw the tip missing years and years ago and concocted a shot of this cutting tool in his head. It happens all the time. Mystic Lemons who is around here from time to time will swear she saw a version of Aliens with the Burke coccoon sequence - despite Cameron claiming it was never good enough to include in any cut of the film. |

I think I'm with SM, its just mind plays. When I was 8 and I saw FC for the first time, I coulda sworn I saw a different version to the one released on VHS. The I saw back then was the rental copy.

No contributors here? Meanwhile we contacted few people on other forums and we added few new videos to the list, for example Shock & Awe documentary with Danny Boyle and slighly better copy of Giger's Alien than we already had. But I still hope that there are more videos to be discovered.

It is an usual TV documentary, the last one ever made (not counting AvP stuff). It came in 2003, two years after the famous Evolution, to help promote Alien Halloween DC. Director Danny Boyle express his thoughts about the series and he narrates this 25 min long video. Basically it is just a short overview of the 4 stories with an invitation to cinema. More info on IMDb.

I know what commercial you are talking about. I did not see it, but I saw few pictures on its designer's homepage. The link to it is hidden somewhere in the older posts on this forum. At this moment nobody offered it to the people involved into our project. But we should have the Pepsi ad soon.

I seem to remember that there were some reports that the very earliest screenings had both the sentry gun and cocoon scenes in. Those then changed for later.
There was a version of the first film which was shown on ITV, here in the UK and I remember that it showed the Nostromo's landing lights switch on, when it gets down to the planetoid, but the version on the video never showed that. Sometimes the television companies have access to a slightly different edition.

Yes, many people remember such strange things. Unfortunately nobody has these old TV versions taped. The only one I got is the famous CBS version of Aliens, which stands between the "normal" and SE editions. But it shows no one frame above what you can see in the SE.

Aliens - any luck tracking down the Alien 3 pepsi commercial?
Also can anyone here confirm who actually directed the commercial? I suspect it could have been Richard (Hardware, Dust Devil) Stanley. Any info would be excellent. |

No details about the authors, I am sorry. But the commercial itself should be in the compilation already. One of the US boys in our team said that he tracked it down on a tape. I do not know anything about the picture quality yet.

I remember having seen a few "alternate" cuts of several movies, including the S.E. of Aliens way back when before it was ever widely released on VHS. For years I thought I was told I'd remembered it wrong but finally, the S.E. came out and I was proven right.
It was still missing a small scene showing the aliens charge the guns but that's the only scene I can remember not in the S.E. we did get. It's more like a scene within the scene I have no idea how I saw it, this was the late 80's and I was still a child but it's permanently etched in my mind. Another movie I recall is Jaws The Revenge where Mario Van Peebles character is eaten, only in the alternate ending, he's still alive, albeit, literally half the man he was. Later I found out that it did happen and is on some cuts of the movie but not all. I really hate it when there's extra scenes cut out and then later they come out with a "special uncut edition" and it's still missing scenes.that had made at least semi-public releases. I've never seen the lengthened cut of Alien mentioned near the top but it may have happened, or it might be a distortion of memory. |

I've read in the ALIEN Movies FAQ, the one created by Eelko de Vos:
Look for: "Something probably only showed at the opening day of Aliens was a scene in which Ripley puts on her Reebok sneakers after she just found out that the facehuggers broke free, when she rested with Newt in the MedLab." here- http://www.planetavp.com/al/Fanfare/...enfaqpart1.txt That scene was not seen anywhere in any of the DVD versions so WTF? :wtf :wtf Was this a rumor? Also the "Impregnated Burke" sequence is completely destroyed possibly?? Although it may have been filmed judging by a photo still I've seen like a while ago. |

The Burke Cocoon scene was not destroyed. It still exists and could easily have been inserted. But Cameron decided the scene was too dark and depressing and has steadfastly refused to let it be shown in ANY version.
