Well they called what we see now Nibiru.... they said it sits on a really weird orbit where it swings in really close then out really far... it could be on it's long leg... thats why I'm really wanting to see an orbital diagram or description... I'll crap my pants if it is true...

Pluto should stay a planet, it's one of my favourites. I REALLY want to know what they're calling the new one. Planets are great, I can stare at those high res colour photos of the surface of Mars for hours.

Didn't they know about this thing for years, something to do with 'gravitational aberations' or 'orbital variations' which could only be explained by a 10th planet outside the orbit of Pluto... I swear I remember hearing about this 10 years ago.

Anyway, it should be called Rupert

Pfft... EVERYONE knows Magrathea is in the middle of the Horsehead Nebula.

Since this has only recently been discovered - very probably by Dr Hans Zarkov (formerly of NASA) - it can only be one planet.

I would be disappointed if the name Xena was accepted as the name of this KBO.

Vesta is already the name of an asteroid, Ceres is already the name of an asteroid, and Vulcan is the planet that was hypothesised to lie between Mercury and the Sun (where it would get very hot, hence the name).

So I guess its between Vertumnus and Quirinus then.. though I doubt they'd name it after the founder of Rome, so I guess it has no choice but to be called Vertumnus.

(FYI, LeVerrier's absurd conjecture hardly rules out the use of the name Vulcan in the future.)
