Official MMA Thread: Part Deux (Spoiler tags for 2 days after any major event)
Quote:
Last quote ^^ Strikeforce had some good fights but where's the fucking undercards? I heard there were plenty of first round stoppages and they decided to stop the show half an hour ahead of schedule? Dafties! Rogers/Arlovski rematch has some potential. I've added a new wee rule. Spoiler tags (or a big focking gap) necessary for the first 2 days after any major event then we'll assume everyone's watched them.

UFC 114 this weekend.
Rampage v Rashad Rampage is going to knock out Rashad. Rampage has always been a better fighter than Rashad, and he's only been getting better over these last few years. And with the exception of a close/'controversial' decision loss to Forrest Griffin, he hasn't lost since his fight with Shogun in 2005 (the same year pretty much every else lost to Shogun). Bisping v Miller I'm thinking Bisping is being given an easy win. I'd never heard of Dan Miller before now, and I can see why. Every time he's fought anyone with a name he's lost. Todd Duffee v Mike Russow Don't really care, but I've heard good things about Duffee, so I'm looking forward to seeing this. Diet Nog v Jason Brilz Nog is going to smash him. I'm also looking forward to Amir Sadollah v Dong Hyun Kim, should be a fucking good fight. |

Rashad vs. Jackson
I think if it stays up its jackson by KO. On the other hand if Rashad follows the GSP gameplan (which he most likely will) then I think he'll grind out a decision. Bisbing vs Miller I'm not much of a fan of Bisbing, so i'm gonna say Miller wins by armbar ![]() Lil Nog vs Brilz Nog wins by hulk smash. Amir Sadollah vs Dong Hyun Kim I'm a fan of Amir, so I think he wins by TKO. |

TUF11, ep08
I recently got my internet upgraded, so know I have a 10/20 gig download limit instead of a 2/4, which means I don't have to wake up at 5am to sneak in a episode of TUF. Kaycey v Kris Spoiler:
Quarter final fights: Ring v McGee Noke v McCray Brad v Seth Yager v Josh Nick Ring's knee is fucked, he's out. That sucks, he was awesome. Hammortree is back. He's gonna get fucking destroyed, but props to him for chasing it. Hammortree v McGee Spoiler:

![]() My picks: Rampage vs. Rashad Rashad showed what he does to good standup guysagaisnt thiago silva, however, ramapge showed what he did to great wrestlers agaisnt Henderson. I'm tipping Rampage on this one actually, I think he'll get it and shut rashad up! ![]() Bisping vs. Miller Milelr all the way. He's the only fighter in the UFC that Maia has defeated byt not managed to submit. He's also a rising talent. I think he'll get a submission in the later rounds. also: Nog, Duffe, Sadollah

Rampage v Rashad
2 1/2 for Rampage but I'm going with Rashad. Still evolving his game, has a much more intelligent approach to each fight, has fought twice fairly recently and is training at a world-world class camp with some of the best on the UFC roster at the moment in all divisions. Rashad's training out of WolfsLair which isn't exactly on the same level, preparation-wise. Based on past experience, it would be silly of me to count Rampage out, he's a phenomenal fighter and if he'd been training consistently over the past year, it might've been a harder choice to make. Rashad GnP or submission, colour me controversial! Can't wait, either way! Bisping v Miller Bisping has to be found out and binned sooner or later but I have a feeling he'll be treading the water of employment in this fight. Just don't like his stand-off, powder-punching style whereas Dan Miller can be quite full on. Bisping by decision but hoping for a Miller KO. Todd Duffee v Mike Russow Don't really care, but I've heard good things about Duffee, so I'm looking forward to seeing this. ^ this ^ Diet Nog v Jason Brilz Nog is going to smash him. ^ this again ^ On a related note, these guys need to get this over and done with! |

TUF11, ep10
Yager is still a dick, but I don't see him losing this fight. Josh Bryant is only 5'10", that's pretty fucking short for a middle weight. Spoiler:

Disappointed in Yager losing but all's fair in MMA lovin' war; Yager gassed, the other guy kept going and was well-deserved. I don't really have a favourite to win now since all who're through to this week's semi finals have deserved but been mostly the quiet underdogs, apart from Tavares. Not sure what to make of him though but his head-to-head with the handshake was semi humorous.
As for UFC 115: Rothwell v Yvel This could be a very good battle. Fatties collide! Not sure how this one could go but I'm fairly sure it won't reach the third round. I have a weird feeling Rothwell might pull this one off though Yvel definitely has a more proven track record. You can never tell with Dutch kickboxers since most of them are so aggressive with that kill-or-be-killed sort of approach. If I had to make a decision, Rothwell by KO second round. Thiago v Kampmann Ugh, I'm not sure why this was made. Kampmann is a very good fighter but I just don't think he's good enough to ever be top contender. IMO, he's the Keith Jardine of the WW. On the other hand, Thiago's probably my favourite WW. Studied, intelligent and talented who just doesn't look like he gets flustered by anything. Guy's a beast and deserved a shot at GSP more than ANYONE in that flipping division. Fuck Daley who'd've been dominated on the ground, FUCK Koscheck who will be bumfucked once again. Thiago's the man and he'll sort Kampmann right the fuck out hopefully in the first round with a nuts submission. CroCop v Barry I can see Barry knocking the twat out of CroCop and sending the Croatian out of the UFC once and for all though not MMA. CroCop is too weary now, his body's too old and his Pride days are well and truly gone. I've not been convinced by his past few perfdormances. His wins have came against sub-gatekeepers and below, his last loss came against one of the rising starts of the HW division, which IMO Barry isn't too far off. His last win against Hardonk was fairly impressive though admittedly I haven't seen much more of him. Barry will win possibly a unanimous decision and CroCops leg's will look like an Evil Dead extra. Liddell v Franklin Well if the OAP homes let these guys out for a day's scrapping, then so be it. Not the most glamorous of main events and not particularly enamoured by either fighter. Both have been K'd T.F.O in their past few fights or managed to hang on for a win (Franklin at least). There's lots of talk of Liddell's condition et al being at it's best in years and Franklin's last-minute replacing Ortiz as being a detrimental factor in his preparation. Talk is evidently cheap any there are many examples of this in the past few UFC events. Who cares if Liddell can run round the world non-stop, backwards holding his entire family whilst performing the merangue, if he connects with Franklin, it's lights out however I think Franklin's smart enough to implement a game-plan of moving away from Liddell's right hand and pull off a majority decision. Ten minutes of illegal shit! AAYAA!! |

Yeah good point with his past 5 fights. The Jardine fight was frustrating to watch... but...fookin hell , we might have to take our Liddell bashing back! Look at that!

Chuck looks great but I felt for a while now that his chin just isn't what it used to be. I think Chucks only chance is a KO via right hand, otherwise Franklin has him beat everywhere else... at least on paper.
styles do make fights though. |

UFC 117 Predictions
Phil Davis V. Rodney Wallace I don't see Wallace taking this at all. Davis is an up and coming fighter whose wrestling is amazing (Div. 1 NCAA). This guy is as pure of an athlete as you can get. Davis via TKO Rd. 2. Stefan Struve V. Christian Morecraft I don't know anything about Morecraft but I just want to see some improved stand up from Struve. Struve via decision. Roy Nelson V. Junio Dos Santos Excited for this. It has the potential to be either a great stand up war or a ground war. I do think Santos has a little edge in standup however. I really don't like Nelson. Dos Santos via KO Rd. 3. P.S. have you seen Santos' wife?? She looks like his mom!! For real. Hughes V. Almeida This is going to be a war. Hughes is on a two fight win streak and if he wins this he is a top contender. At the weigh ins he looked fucking shredded and the best shape I have seen him in. I'm definitely rooting for Almeida however. I love his jiu jitsu and his takedowns are elite. Almeida takes this, stuffing Hughes win streak and subbing him in the third. Clay Guida V. Rafael Dos Anjos Another all out war, because it involves Guida. I haven't seen Dos Anjos at all, but I've heard his jitz and muay thai are excellent. Dos Anjos has a three fight win streak. Guida will no doubt put on another cardio clinic. I suspect Guida will win via decision. Jon Fitch V. Thiago Alves Alves missed weight again goddamnit. He just needs to move up to fucking middleweight. Its obvious to see why he loves welterweight, he's fucking huge. Needless to say I'm looking forward to this more than anything else on the card. Fitch of course has amazing wrestling (mini GSP) but Alves has fucking awesome take down defense. I love Alves' muay thai. A bit afraid that Fitch will grind this out to another decision, but I'm hoping Alves takes this in the 3rd via TKO. Chael Sonnen V. Anderson Silva Okay folks this is what we all have been waiting for. Sonnen's trash talk is about as bad as Silva's chicken dance in Abu Dabi (sp). I don't think there's a question that Silva wants to make an example of Sonnen. I think Sonnen may have psyched himself out with all the talk and doesn't really know what he is getting himself into. I can see an upset however. But the way Sonnen controlled Marquart in his last fight- that's just not going to happen against Silva. I think Silva will put on another muay thai clinic and Sonnen gets destroyed via TKO in the second. Happy Viewing! |

Kinda glad my predictions have been wiped from the last month, seeing as I was about 90% wrong on UFC on VS2.
Anyway UFC 117 Predictions Chael Sonnen V. Anderson Silva Okay I think Sonnen's shit talk is very funny. I get the feeling everytime he opens his mouth he has a hard time not busting up laughing, I know I do. Also Like Dana says, Im not paying to hear or see Sonnen talk shit. But I payed to see that last Silva fight .But as far as fighting ability goes I think we all know Silva is def the better fighter. I do think however that if Sonnen finds a way to take the pain and get Silva tired, I think its his for the picking. Silva in the first 2 rounds by KO or Sonnen via Decision if it gets past the 2nd round. Jon Fitch V. Thiago Alves Yeah I can't believe Alves missed weight again. Despite the power of thiago, I call this for fitch via Decision. Clay Guida V. Rafael Dos Anjos Picking the Carpenter of course! Hughes V. Almeida same as Gladiators post-- Almeida Roy Nelson V. Junio Dos Santos I think Nelson is going lights out right in the very first round. Phil Davis V. Rodney Wallace |
