Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery spoilers
Overeem vs. Rogers
Spoiler:
Rogers got pwned. It didn't seem like he even landed a single punch. I think his hype has sucessfully died down now.

Last quote ^^

Strikeforce had some good fights but where's the fucking undercards? I heard there were plenty of first round stoppages and they decided to stop the show half an hour ahead of schedule? Dafties! Rogers/Arlovski rematch has some potential.

I've added a new wee rule. Spoiler tags (or a big focking gap) necessary for the first 2 days after any major event then we'll assume everyone's watched them.

So UFC 114 is coming up, and I know I'm excited, despite Forest pulling out it's still a pretty good card. Now I can at least root for lil nog, before I didn't know who to root for.

Spoiler:
Last night I dreamt that I had a baseboll bat fight with nate diaz...

Something something something...DARK SIDE Something something something...COMPLETE

Weird, last night I dreamt that Overeem knocked out Fedor.... I was so happy when I woke up and it hadn't happened.

UFC 114 this weekend.

Rampage v Rashad
Rampage is going to knock out Rashad.
Rampage has always been a better fighter than Rashad, and he's only been getting better over these last few years. And with the exception of a close/'controversial' decision loss to Forrest Griffin, he hasn't lost since his fight with Shogun in 2005 (the same year pretty much every else lost to Shogun).

Bisping v Miller
I'm thinking Bisping is being given an easy win. I'd never heard of Dan Miller before now, and I can see why. Every time he's fought anyone with a name he's lost.

Todd Duffee v Mike Russow
Don't really care, but I've heard good things about Duffee, so I'm looking forward to seeing this.

Diet Nog v Jason Brilz
Nog is going to smash him.

I'm also looking forward to Amir Sadollah v Dong Hyun Kim, should be a fucking good fight.

Rashad vs. Jackson
I think if it stays up its jackson by KO. On the other hand if Rashad follows the GSP gameplan (which he most likely will) then I think he'll grind out a decision.

Bisbing vs Miller
I'm not much of a fan of Bisbing, so i'm gonna say Miller wins by armbar

Lil Nog vs Brilz
Nog wins by hulk smash.

Amir Sadollah vs Dong Hyun Kim
I'm a fan of Amir, so I think he wins by TKO.

TUF11, ep08

I recently got my internet upgraded, so know I have a 10/20 gig download limit instead of a 2/4, which means I don't have to wake up at 5am to sneak in a episode of TUF.

Kaycey v Kris
Spoiler:
They both looked a litle timid to begin with, but then Kaycey smashed out Kris's knee. That looked fucking nasty. Kris got a takedown, but Kaycey was up pretty quick, and they're clinched up on the cage. Kaycey eats a knee to the groin and there's a time out. Starts again and Kris's knee is very obviously damaged.
Nice takedown from Kaycey, using the whizzer, and some vicious dirty boxing. Oh, big slam from Kris. Nice.
Kaycey's turtled up, eating some GnP.
Round ends
Fuck. Not a bad fight at the end there.

Round 2

Kris gets the TD early, into side control. Locks up a figure four... a little loose, but he got it.

Quarter final fights:

Ring v McGee
Noke v McCray
Brad v Seth
Yager v Josh

Nick Ring's knee is fucked, he's out.

That sucks, he was awesome.

Hammortree is back. He's gonna get fucking destroyed, but props to him for chasing it.

Hammortree v McGee
Spoiler:
Lots of back forth in the stand up. Eventually McGee catches kick lands a few shots and end up on Hammortrees back, takes him down the a single, lands a few shots, but Hammortree bounces back up.
More back n forth.
Another sweet takedown from McGee.
Failed attempt at a spinning back kick from McGee, Hammortree takes his back and gets a takedown. Bit a scramble and McGee ends the round on top.
Definitely give that to McGee.

Round 2
Whoa... Hammortree taps to a standing guillotine...

McGee is through to the semis

The same could be said about Bisping

My picks:

Rampage vs. Rashad
Rashad showed what he does to good standup guysagaisnt thiago silva, however, ramapge showed what he did to great wrestlers agaisnt Henderson. I'm tipping Rampage on this one actually, I think he'll get it and shut rashad up!

Bisping vs. Miller
Milelr all the way. He's the only fighter in the UFC that Maia has defeated byt not managed to submit. He's also a rising talent. I think he'll get a submission in the later rounds.

also: Nog, Duffe, Sadollah

Rampage v Rashad
2 1/2 for Rampage but I'm going with Rashad. Still evolving his game, has a much more intelligent approach to each fight, has fought twice fairly recently and is training at a world-world class camp with some of the best on the UFC roster at the moment in all divisions. Rashad's training out of WolfsLair which isn't exactly on the same level, preparation-wise. Based on past experience, it would be silly of me to count Rampage out, he's a phenomenal fighter and if he'd been training consistently over the past year, it might've been a harder choice to make. Rashad GnP or submission, colour me controversial!

Can't wait, either way!

Bisping v Miller
Bisping has to be found out and binned sooner or later but I have a feeling he'll be treading the water of employment in this fight. Just don't like his stand-off, powder-punching style whereas Dan Miller can be quite full on. Bisping by decision but hoping for a Miller KO.

Todd Duffee v Mike Russow
Don't really care, but I've heard good things about Duffee, so I'm looking forward to seeing this.

^ this ^

Diet Nog v Jason Brilz
Nog is going to smash him.

^ this again ^

kinda sucked mcray just took it down and controlled it in a mostly boring fight.

Seth vs (can't remember insert name here)
started out awesome until Seth knocked homeslice out with illegal soccer kick to the head. I have seen an above average # of illegal kicks and kneesin mma lately. AnywayTito proved why he is D-bag, by doubting the insanely blatant head kick and throwing a hissy fit

Spoiler:

kris "douche" Mccrazy vs kyle "shrimp on the barbie" noke
A shame Kyle Noke lost, I liked him, but really his takedown defence jsut wasn't there. McCray is a bit of a douche so I hope however he fights beats his ass. McCray doesn't deserve the wildcard spot, he was dominated by the sweet innocent looking guy.

seth "polish names are hard to spell" Spazynszkzscski vs brad "homeslice" tavares
A great fight with a surprising turnaround in which Tavares showed a lot of heart, a real shame it ended the way it did. You can see how tavares' head drops down, don't know what tito is on about. So tito is a constantly injured prick, no news there.

A shame tito pulls out, I really wanted to see chuck smash him.

Also: I hope "sweety pants fluffy bunny" beats down "ego the size of his afro", though I doubt he will

Bad way to win/lose a fight.

It wasn't Tito that kicked the whole thing off though, one of his assistant coaches said that one of the doctors told him the kick landed on the chest. Without the instant replays and camera angles, who knows what they could see

Rampage looked really gaunt at the weigh-ins, he must have cut a lot of wieght. I didn't see an ounce of fat on him either he'll probably look huge tonight.
Maybe he did train really hard.

Rashad looked like normal, a super athlete.

UFC 114 spoilers

Sanchez vs. Hathaway
Spoiler:
Well I was expecting Sanchez to go in crazy and TKO Hathaway pretty quickly, but Hathaway impressed me. He caught Sanchez early on with a knee and came sort of clsoe to finishing him, a couple times actually. Sanchez looked a bit off after the first round, sloppy takedown attempts and very visibly being hurt by hathaways long jabs and hooks. Unanimous decision for Hathaway, colour me impressed.

lil' nog vs. brilz
Spoiler:
Once again, very unexpected. Was expecting nog to finish him quickly, but Brilz really was the better fighter, he landed soem hard strikes on nog and came very close to choking him out on a few occasions. I think Brilz won that fight and obviously so did the audience, but the judges didn't...

Todd Duffee vs. mike russow
Spoiler:
OK well NOW Duffee will knock russow out quickly! Duffee landed power pnch after power punch, and Russow took each one openly, I kept expecting any punch nwo to knock him out. His takedown attempts were were pretty bad, and his standup was basically non-existant. Also he's pretty fat, even for a heavyweight.

For 2½ rounds Duffee would sjut land heavy punch after heavy punch until all of a sudden, from out of fucking nowhere, Russow lande a straight that knocks out Duffee. W.T.F. Seriously. Wow.

Bisping vs. Miller
Spoiler:
If Miller took this to the ground he could win. But he didn't. For soem reason he prefered to stand with Bisping, and never follow up on any of is hard strikes that landed, not that Bisping did either though. Bisping was too fast and counter-punchy for miller, and wins a decision. Disappointing match, I think this is Millers 3rd loss in a row, so I guss he'll be cut from the UFC now =/

Rampage vs. Rashad
Spoiler:
I thought Rampage's mistake this fight would be being too agressive, but it wasactually the opposite that caused him to lose. He hit Rashad with a heavy hook in the thirdround and proceeded to ground and pound and yet couldn't finish. There were plenty of times where he would land a strike btu never follow up. A shame the fight went the way it did =/

Spoiler:
I agree 100 percent, except I like rashad and rampage equally so I was happy with the fight.

Rashad had some excellent take downs and even landed a big punch that almost KO'd Rampage right off the bat. Rampage seemed stilted but still very dangerous. I think getting rocked right out of the gate made him more timid (with a pinch of ring rust too.) But he hurt Rashad in the third and landed a couple follow up strikes that would have KO'ed lesser men. Then when Rashad got up he was on shaky legs for the third fight in a row, but Rampage inexplicably decided not to follow it up and finish Rashad. Rashad then recovered and finshed strong.

Good night of fights, although most of my picks lost.

Duffee!! that was hilarious, I laughed until I cried. Mike Russow gets major chin points for effortlessly takeing an endless barrage of fight ending strikes. Wow TD was floored by what looked like a non-threatening punch.

Poor Diego, I like him a lot but I don't know whats next for him. Something about Hathaway that I dislike though, don't know why.

Amir got wrestled and controlled to a loss.

Pretty much this.

I think getting clipped early really threw Rampage off. He never really recovered from that first punch, at least not mentally. I think also the ring rust and his lack of conditioning is what hurt him the most. He should have been able to finish in the 3rd, but he looked totally worn out. Pretty disappointed with the main event actually. The 3rd round was great, lots of action, lots of banck and forth, but before that it was pretty slow. Very much a Greg Jackson gameplan.

Also, John Hathaway impressed the shit out of me. I'm not a huge fan of Diego, but I never expected him to get completely dominated like he did.

The Russow/Duffee fight was weird. The two of them walking in really did look like a before and after shot. Duffee landed everything at will. Russow looked like shit the whole fight. Then BANG. Over for Duffee.

Bisping/Miller. Damn, Bisping could KTFO guys at will if he just put some weight behind his shots. He hit miller fluch on the jaw probably dozens of times, but every time he was up on his toes, bouncing around, he never planted his feet once. If he planted his feet, threw while in balance and sat his weight down on his punches he'd be fucking good. He's accurate as hell, but anyone with even a remotely decent chin will eat those all day. Someone with a good chin (like Hendo) will walk straight through them.

TUF11, ep10

Yager is still a dick, but I don't see him losing this fight. Josh Bryant is only 5'10", that's pretty fucking short for a middle weight.
Spoiler:
ooohhh, Yager throws sloppy and gets clipped, and then he throws a jumping head kick. Bryant clinches up and they're pressed up against the cage. Yager throws a knee and they separate.
Yager might be a douche, but his kicks are fast as hell.
Yager is hammering Bryants lead leg. OH! Nails the head kick too! One gets caught and he almost gets taken down, but shakes out of it.
Josh is just hanging on the outside, eating kick after kick.
Holy fuck, Josh bum-rushes him and knocks Yager down. He ate a few up kicks for it, but finished the round strong.
Fuck.... that round was all Yager until the last 10 seconds... the knock down might tip it over to Bryants side....

Round 2
Yagers straight back to the leg kicks. Yager eats another big shot to the face, and starts throwing flying knees. Bryant counters a leg kick and puts Yager on his back. Bryants goes straight into side control. Yager stops most of the damage, scrambles and ends up with a takedown of his own. Takes side back and lands a few shots. When yager gets excited he starts jumping and spinning around, he forgets about defence and balance, but Bryant isn't really capitalising on it like he should be. Bryant puts him down again. Yager is tired.
Fucking close fight.

Draw, 3rd round.
Fucking hell. Yager quits.

Beardy dude put it best. Every time Yager got hit he faded a little more. The end of that second round took away what little he had left.

Fuck.... Tito is pissed.
But he's right. If you can't take it you're in the wrong sport.

Spoiler:
Tito's out. Dana shit canned him. And he ducked out without telling his team.

He came back a few hours later and explained it all. People can hate on him all they want, but in spite of his attitude and screen persona, I think Tito is a genuinely good guy.

Semifinal fights:
Spoiler:
Brad Tavares v Court McGee
Kris McCray v Josh Bryant

RIIICH. AAAAACCEE. FFFFFRRRRRRAAAAAANNNNNKKLLLLIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN.

And a special surprise for next week is a former champ as the assistant coach.

Spoiler:
Aye, thought Yager might've got the KO early on but that other guy was pretty resilient. As for the new coaches, it's no secret amongst the community of who they are. I'll add in another spoiler for them if you want to wait til next week to find out...

New head coaches are:
Spoiler:
Forrest Griffin, Tyson Griffin and Gray Maynard

At this point in the comp, it doesn't make a huge amount of difference, frankly I'm surprised the delayed the announcement of Ace for so long.

Spoiler:
Yager starts strong but his cardio went right out the window. Props to the other guy for being so scrappy and really landing some hard shots, but his GnP left something to be desired. I really thought Yager lost anyway, but being broken I wouldn't have predicted. He wimped out, considering I've seen guys take much more punishment and just shrug it off and pull out the win *cough*mikerussow*cough*. Not saying i'de do better in that situation, but i'm not trying to be the ulitmate fighter.

I knew Tito was going to pull out a long time ago. I understand the surgery was necessary but Tito whined right after the Forest fight that his neck cost him the fight... So why take another fight against Chuck without doing something about it? Because he wanted to coach and wants to get his face on TV. I dont think he had any intention of meeting chuck for another fight. I did have a good laugh at the look on Titos face when Dana kicked him off the show and made him get a second opinion from a UFC endorsed speciallist.

I still think Tito is punk who always has an excuse for everything.

Disappointed in Yager losing but all's fair in MMA lovin' war; Yager gassed, the other guy kept going and was well-deserved. I don't really have a favourite to win now since all who're through to this week's semi finals have deserved but been mostly the quiet underdogs, apart from Tavares. Not sure what to make of him though but his head-to-head with the handshake was semi humorous.

As for UFC 115:

Rothwell v Yvel
This could be a very good battle. Fatties collide! Not sure how this one could go but I'm fairly sure it won't reach the third round. I have a weird feeling Rothwell might pull this one off though Yvel definitely has a more proven track record. You can never tell with Dutch kickboxers since most of them are so aggressive with that kill-or-be-killed sort of approach.
If I had to make a decision, Rothwell by KO second round.

Thiago v Kampmann
Ugh, I'm not sure why this was made. Kampmann is a very good fighter but I just don't think he's good enough to ever be top contender. IMO, he's the Keith Jardine of the WW. On the other hand, Thiago's probably my favourite WW. Studied, intelligent and talented who just doesn't look like he gets flustered by anything. Guy's a beast and deserved a shot at GSP more than ANYONE in that flipping division. Fuck Daley who'd've been dominated on the ground, FUCK Koscheck who will be bumfucked once again. Thiago's the man and he'll sort Kampmann right the fuck out hopefully in the first round with a nuts submission.

CroCop v Barry
I can see Barry knocking the twat out of CroCop and sending the Croatian out of the UFC once and for all though not MMA. CroCop is too weary now, his body's too old and his Pride days are well and truly gone. I've not been convinced by his past few perfdormances. His wins have came against sub-gatekeepers and below, his last loss came against one of the rising starts of the HW division, which IMO Barry isn't too far off. His last win against Hardonk was fairly impressive though admittedly I haven't seen much more of him.

Barry will win possibly a unanimous decision and CroCops leg's will look like an Evil Dead extra.

Liddell v Franklin
Well if the OAP homes let these guys out for a day's scrapping, then so be it. Not the most glamorous of main events and not particularly enamoured by either fighter. Both have been K'd T.F.O in their past few fights or managed to hang on for a win (Franklin at least). There's lots of talk of Liddell's condition et al being at it's best in years and Franklin's last-minute replacing Ortiz as being a detrimental factor in his preparation. Talk is evidently cheap any there are many examples of this in the past few UFC events. Who cares if Liddell can run round the world non-stop, backwards holding his entire family whilst performing the merangue, if he connects with Franklin, it's lights out however I think Franklin's smart enough to implement a game-plan of moving away from Liddell's right hand and pull off a majority decision.

I'm thinking the same thing. Thiago is fantastic.

Conditioning-wise, Chuck on his best day won't get anywhere near Franklin on his worst. Fraknlins record is still miles better than Chucks. The only losses Rich has suffered in 30+ fights are from Machida, Silva, Henderson (close) and Belfort. Liddell has gone 4-1 in his last 5, including a loss to Jardine.
Rich takes this one.

Yeah good point with his past 5 fights. The Jardine fight was frustrating to watch... but...fookin hell , we might have to take our Liddell bashing back! Look at that!

Chuck looks great but I felt for a while now that his chin just isn't what it used to be. I think Chucks only chance is a KO via right hand, otherwise Franklin has him beat everywhere else... at least on paper.

styles do make fights though.

UFC 117 Predictions

Phil Davis V. Rodney Wallace

I don't see Wallace taking this at all. Davis is an up and coming fighter whose wrestling is amazing (Div. 1 NCAA). This guy is as pure of an athlete as you can get. Davis via TKO Rd. 2.

Stefan Struve V. Christian Morecraft

I don't know anything about Morecraft but I just want to see some improved stand up from Struve. Struve via decision.

Roy Nelson V. Junio Dos Santos

Excited for this. It has the potential to be either a great stand up war or a ground war. I do think Santos has a little edge in standup however. I really don't like Nelson. Dos Santos via KO Rd. 3. P.S. have you seen Santos' wife?? She looks like his mom!! For real.

Hughes V. Almeida

This is going to be a war. Hughes is on a two fight win streak and if he wins this he is a top contender. At the weigh ins he looked fucking shredded and the best shape I have seen him in. I'm definitely rooting for Almeida however. I love his jiu jitsu and his takedowns are elite. Almeida takes this, stuffing Hughes win streak and subbing him in the third.

Clay Guida V. Rafael Dos Anjos

Another all out war, because it involves Guida. I haven't seen Dos Anjos at all, but I've heard his jitz and muay thai are excellent. Dos Anjos has a three fight win streak. Guida will no doubt put on another cardio clinic. I suspect Guida will win via decision.

Jon Fitch V. Thiago Alves

Alves missed weight again goddamnit. He just needs to move up to fucking middleweight. Its obvious to see why he loves welterweight, he's fucking huge. Needless to say I'm looking forward to this more than anything else on the card. Fitch of course has amazing wrestling (mini GSP) but Alves has fucking awesome take down defense. I love Alves' muay thai. A bit afraid that Fitch will grind this out to another decision, but I'm hoping Alves takes this in the 3rd via TKO.

Chael Sonnen V. Anderson Silva

Okay folks this is what we all have been waiting for. Sonnen's trash talk is about as bad as Silva's chicken dance in Abu Dabi (sp). I don't think there's a question that Silva wants to make an example of Sonnen. I think Sonnen may have psyched himself out with all the talk and doesn't really know what he is getting himself into. I can see an upset however. But the way Sonnen controlled Marquart in his last fight- that's just not going to happen against Silva. I think Silva will put on another muay thai clinic and Sonnen gets destroyed via TKO in the second.

Happy Viewing!

The Big Come Down. Isn't that really what you wanted?

Kinda glad my predictions have been wiped from the last month, seeing as I was about 90% wrong on UFC on VS2.

Anyway UFC 117 Predictions

Chael Sonnen V. Anderson Silva

Okay I think Sonnen's shit talk is very funny. I get the feeling everytime he opens his mouth he has a hard time not busting up laughing, I know I do. Also Like Dana says, Im not paying to hear or see Sonnen talk shit. But I payed to see that last Silva fight .

But as far as fighting ability goes I think we all know Silva is def the better fighter. I do think however that if Sonnen finds a way to take the pain and get Silva tired, I think its his for the picking.
Silva in the first 2 rounds by KO or Sonnen via Decision if it gets past the 2nd round.

Jon Fitch V. Thiago Alves

Yeah I can't believe Alves missed weight again.
Despite the power of thiago, I call this for fitch via Decision.

Clay Guida V. Rafael Dos Anjos
Picking the Carpenter of course! Guida via Decision

Hughes V. Almeida
same as Gladiators post--
Almeida

Roy Nelson V. Junio Dos Santos
I think Nelson is going lights out right in the very first round.

Phil Davis V. Rodney Wallace

Overall results
Spoiler:
Well, I went 2-3, and even the ones I picked right didn't go the way I thought they would.

Struve v Morecraft
Spoiler:
Damn that's some sweet GnP from Morecraft. Fucking painful shots landing right on Struve's face. Struve must have been dazed pretty badly because he was fucking up some beautiful submissions. After round 1 Struve lip was fucked. That thing was triple the size of normal. The Struve comes back out and fucking ends Morecraft with a few wild swings and some nice follow up on the ground. Nice way to turn around a fight.
The post fight interview was fucking priceless.

Dos Santos v Nelson
Spoiler:
Holy fucking shit. Nelson has a head made of fucking rock. Dos Santos is the absolute tits, and I'm hoping to hell that Cain beats Lesnar beacause I can't wait to see Velasquez v Dos Santos go five rounds.
I honestly thought this would be over in the first round. By the third round all I could think about was Duffee v Russow, the fat one getting the shit kicked out of him for 3 rounds then K's the ripped one the fuck O.
Fortunately, that's not what happened at all. Dos Santos out struck Nelson from bell to bell. He showed patience when it became obvious he wasn't going to put Nelson away in the first round, and although he looked tired and even looked like he got rocked at one point he kept his composure and fought his fight. Fucking amazing.

Almeida v Hughes
Spoiler:
I though Almeida would be all over this one, instead Hughes knocks him down with a left hook that landed right on the point of his chin and then latches on to his neck and chokes him absolutely the fuck out. Good night. Gone. Asleep.

Wow.

Dos Anjos v Guida
Spoiler:
To be fair, this one was a coin toss for me. Guida is alway dangerous and brilliantly good fun to watch. Guida landed a few good shots on the feet in the first round but was averall getting outclassed on his feet. No matter how hard he works or how much damage he takes Guida just keeps on coming. I probably would've given the second round to Dos Anjos as well, but not by much Guida is a fucking machine.
And apparently those shots Guida landed in the first broke Dos Anjos' jaw, he ends up tapping for the pressure of Guida half guard

Alves v Fitch
Spoiler:
I was worried with the whole weigh in thing. I was even more worried when Alves was walking out to the octagon looking totally flat. He looked slow and sloppy in the first round and Fitch just did what Fitch does. Same in the second round. Alves came back a bit at the very start of the third, but it was too little too late, Alves was clearly exhausted and Fitch was on a roll. Disappointing and overall frustrating fight. Not looking forward to Fitch v GSP II.

Silva v Sonnen
Spoiler:
Whoa.

Have to give props to Sonnen for doing exactly what he said he do, for 23 minutes. Silva has never, ever been dominated like that.
We were jumping and screaming at the TV during the last round, that was one of the best and most satisfying submissions I've ever seen.
