Any old clans from AVP2 coming back?

Hi there,

I don't know if old school avp2 players read these boards, but does anyone know if any of the old clans are coming back for AVP3?

The multiplayer aspect looks very promising so far, kinda like how AVP2 should have been. I'm hoping this is enough to tempt those players/clans from yesteryear out of the woodwork

I will be starting a Multiplayer clan providing the game justifies it.

Mature minded players only, play for fun etc and invite only recruitment. Quite looking forward to it, but got to wait for the game to see if it wil work out.

Ill have a couple of dedicated servers and already have ventrilo for members.

Well, I'd like to join a group that wants to play a couple of days in the week that lives in a timezone that is relatively good with mine (GMT+1). It's always nicer to play with people you know than joining some random server.

I too hope to be able to put up some dedicated servers.

Sounds like we have the first 2 members for our new clan.

The basis of the clan will be to provide a stable base of players so we can further enjoy the game. In my experience of FPS games, expanding on what Eldritch said its not as enjoyable and can actually be frustrating to join a game with Team Killers, Cheaters and generally abusive players. Hence the mature gaming clan part.

Initially we would have to be quite releaxed in accepting members to establish a member base but unsavoury types would quickly be weeded out. We would invite players from within the AvP 3 community who we feel meet our criteria.

Website would consist of: Forums, Servers, Application Area (All apps posted to forum for 'cross examination'

Teamers or Team Players sounds better than the word 'clan' a suggestion only.
Just the word clan makes me think of sheeple,KKK,Lemmings,etc...

Sorry but I always thought clans were a bit immature in nature to begin with.
even in the days when they first started with the likes of Mplayer.
Unless you look at it like a sports team that could be different.
But if your into that sorta thing.... all the best of luck with it.
I myself will always be a non-clanner.

I had an email a few weeks ago from Omega Cybrex (Blast from the PAST!) so it looks as if the Omega bastards will be back and impaling people. I think the BLITZ guys are considering it, and probably the 101st will be around in some format again.

I may consider clanning it up, it depends how much free time i have next year. Currently between Jitsu, Work and my partner i only get maybe 1 night a week free to do social activities. be nice to se some old names around.

Thanks, as an independant I'd be happy to jam with everyone here at gamegossip. as for clans from avp2, bet most of em don't even know what real avp multiplayer is really like from rebellion 10 years ago,
ah don't even get me started.....

I just started playing multiplayer again for the first time in 10 years just recently with MW2.

So it'll be interesting getting the feeling back as an alien again as I once did with avpGE if the gameplay is still there or better.

AVP 2 just didn't cut it.

AVP 3 I hope becomes a great experience all around for everyone.

even clanners too. I'll still shoot,claw, headbite them all the same anyways.

Im not particularily fond of the term 'clan' but it just so happens that its the internet norm for a group of gamers who band together. So we kinda have to run with it.

I found that being in a good clan, where I say good I mean decent people. You often have no trouble finding a decent match void of the "80% of the internet personality defective" members of the community.

Individuals are welcome to participate in our irc, ventrilo providing they are mature which Im sure most of you are. I participate in another fps and associate with a well known clan but am clanless myself.

Edit: Im not gunning for a clan where you must meet certain amount of attendance and play on scheduled days, although members can arrange clan matches should they wish but its mainly a small and reliable community Id like to get together.

Just an idea, but going on your and my own dislike for the term clan, how about running it as a Marine unit, a Predator..Tribe? and an Alien Hive, all under the same tag but reffered to individualy.

I'm all for team effort like a soccer or football,baseball team or platoon troop

Well I think breaking it down into units would create divinity between members and seeing as were playing for fun it might be detremental, people should be able to play with what they want, much like in a standard fps game youd imply that you like playing with the sniper rifle but you dont have seperate teams for snipers and smg users.

What Scythewtaith has described above regarding clans is usually what happens when you have a 13 year old running it and members consist of insecure youngsters or socially inept adults. In my experience.

No ass kissing, people just have to be mature and enjoy the game.

When I ran the AvPNews clan I recieved alot of strange emails from obviously young people or just nut jobs saying how they were going to seperate my head from my body and *insert predator roleplay here* I think this is the thing to avoid.

Been twiddling my thumbs playing wow for a couple of years, just waiting for avp3.
Was there ever any doubt?!

I was also still playing planetside on and off up until about a year ago, which given how bad that game has become makes me think I should get some kind of special 'veteran of the planetside gutter' merit award.

Either that or the assclown award for giving so much money to SOE.

I remember playing against waves of Alien A.I., with Sado on voice com. Damn, that was wayyyyyyyyyback. And shitscarry. I can only imagine what it will be like in THIS AVP. Not really into pub gaming anymore, but wouldn`t mind joining some GG server games.

You seen that one of the bigwigs at SOE released a questionaire and starting talking about PlanetSide 2? After the announcement of AvP3 thats my next biggest "Games i can get really excited about"!
