Aliens Genocide
Its a great continuation of Female War which a brilliant and interesting story-far more impressive than the comic cos my mind fills in visuals rather than the crappy art of the comic.
It was more involving with more situations where I grew to like the characters, really impressed with the developement that Grant went through in the book and some really interesting information regarding the Aliens. The whole Genetic Defect Aliens where great, such an interesting idea, ill be sure to use that one day in a fanfilm or something. |

I felt the comic and novel kinda undid what Ripley had done in Earth/ Female War. It was like an afterthought. Like they thought - we've got this double page spread of nukes going off all over the world, how are we going to make any more comics if all the Aliens are dead? So they chuck in an Alien in the very last panel to show some survived, then Genocide roles around and 20 years later they're STILL fighting Aliens on Earth??
Overall it wasn't bad, but not great. Xeno-Zip was an interesting concept. I like the comic more. The Aliens were passable, but the hardware artwork was great. |

Meh, it was okay.
The action scenes were quite imaginitive to say the least, so thats really the only reason I come back to either the comic (which I prefer over the book) or the novel. |

Yeah, Aliens vs. Predator DOTS goes into detail about how the Aliens still roam in packs around the world and that it probably will never be entirely safe to go back planetside as the Aliens are kinda like the insurgents the US is fighting in Afghanistan.
And in Female War, weren't the nukes only supposed to go off on Orona's mountain? |

Ye...I find it impossible that ALL the Earth aliens came to her. As many as possible yes but unlikely all of them, those left behind would have just spread out abit!

I really loved the frame where we saw that huge chestburster come out of the living slab of meat... Does anyone have a scan of that? And also of the other frame, where it's eating, just before getting blown up?

Yeah, the short 'Aliens: Alien' from Dark Horse Presents has something like that. I'll check on it later if I've got some time.

I just thought he stopped them from exploding period. So the world wouldn't suffer from nuclear fallout when he tried to inhabit it.
I think the book (I'll check Aliens: Alien) later, might have implied thats what he did, but I'm not sure the comic ever did. I think that stockpile was meant to be as potent as it always was when Ripley and Co. detonated it. Also, I think it's interesting that when this forum becomes active, we are blessed with either a videogame, movie, or a surplus of new books. When AvP2 came out, this forum was wild, right before AvP was slated for release, this forum picked up again, and now a new book is in the works and everything has picked up again. It's kinda weird that when this forum is active, so is fox licensing. |

I know some bombs in Orona's stockpile went off. I'm positive of that. I distinctly remember seeing mushroom clouds and Alien bodies being cast to the wind. I also remember the phrase "only the older fission warheads were detonated" or something to that effect.
My dorm room is a mess right now (in the middle of unpacking my 300 novels in my collection) but after I get stuff sorted out, I'll dig out my copy of 'Aliens: Alien'. |

Cause and effect...
![]() In regards to the explosions, I seem to recall something about it referencing only 'older' weapons being activated. |

Well I know that some of the bombs went off. That's obvious. But the were originally supposed to go off before Ripley and Wilks ever became involved with them. Until the jockey stepped in and stopped them from going off. Then Ripley and co reentered the base and detonated the fission bombs, or the type of bombs we have nowadays if I'm not mistaken.
What I was trying to say in my last post is that I don't think the jockey removed anything from the bombs in the comics so much as he just stopped them. |

I think you've got the order of events messed up. Ripley and co. entered the base with the intention of setting a six-month timer on the bombs, to let the largest possible number of Aliens come to Orona's mountain. After Ripley armed the bombs and left, the Jockey came in and defused some of them.
