It still amazes me how people can even try to pass off AvP Photos as an upcoming new version.
Hell that isn't even a screenshot. it's a photo of AvP on an old monitor EVERYONE knows Fox has nothing to do with the AvP franchise anymore. Not since Fox Interactive sold out Looks like someone is trying to pull a fast one *****Edit****** That photo is 5yrs old Created: 04/13/2000 Last modified: 12/19/2001 Done before AvP:GE came out (April 2000 here in UK) |

Ok maybe I misunderstood the original line back in the day. Perhaps that should have read ....... Fox doesn't want anything to do with the AvP franchise anymore. It's been played out

You would think they would give us gamers enough credit to be able to recognize a screen shot blatantly from AvP1. Hell, they didn't even *try* to edit it at *all*.
This=bullshit. |

Has anybody read the header for that site

*****EDIT******* I just read the entire item on the site regarding their "interview" Now I hate to call place to peoples typing and techniques. But the punctuation, grammar and layout of that piece only points to the entire thing being a belated April Fools stunt And adding a very old AvP1 photo as a "Next game design" header only emphasises (sp) it!

It's kinda sad really. AvP3 the game could be something amazing if done correctly.
If FI has nothing to do with it anymore, does it mean that we will likely never see another AvP game?

The problem is that Fox is seriously lacking in terms of support of their key-franchises...
If you want AvP3 to be good, you need money, time and a proper team. Most of the time, Fox only gives one of these three factors attention. |

" A small team of Modelers w/partnership with Fox & Monolith Will be making a expansion pack to the Series that will "Swipe the AvP Community From Under It's Feet" qouted VP John."
For 1, that screen looks like SHITE. And 2, if Monolith comes within even touching distance of a new AvP, I won`t buy it. 3: DOOM 3 or better engine. Expansion pack my azz!!!! AvP deserves way better... a real next gen standalone. |

To clear up anything: this is utter bullshit. There are no current plans to make a sequel to the AvP gaming series. Heck, even the separate franchises (i.e. Alien(s) and Predator) seem to be having no future in gaming.

Alright then, we've got someone trying to pass off a screenshot from 5 years ago as a new game? The AVP2.5 sounds like a mod or something.
Unfortunetly its bullshit as much as I'd like a new, and hopefully decent game. I'd love a console game, an AVP FPS. It's a shame Natural Selection turned in Extinction ey, that might have given the gaming community abit more life! |

I don't think it's a case of Fox not owning the rights to create AvP games anymore, since Fox Interactive were only ever "middle-men" anyway. They never developed their own games - they farmed out 20th Century Fox properties to third-party developers (eg. Rebellion, Argonaut, Eurocom, Crawfish, Monolith et al) and took a supervisory role in the production of resultant titles.
So now that Fox Interactive are dead, there's simply no 'intermediary' between 20th Century Fox and Vivendi Universal anymore. Obviously, Fox still own the copyrights and trademarks for both Alien and Predator franchises - it's just unclear as to what Vivendi's controlling rights currently are as a licensee. Maybe if they really are uninterested in doing an AvP3, someone else will try and pick up the licences. |

Wait so who owns the property to the AVP franchise? Or can any gaming company just get the greenlight from Fox?
I think it's completely insane that the AVP license would be dead in the water. A lot of people love both franchises and the potenial for gamplay (especially with the coming of nex gen) seems boundless. I say make an open "sandbox" AVP game. Where you can drive around in APCs and Dropships. Or huge jungle areas to hunt in or colony complexes to gather hosts from. Why do big name developers avoid this franchise like the plague anyway? Is it because they have to pay for the licensing? |

The last I remember which was admittedly several years ago, AVP2 did well enough they were planning pre-production on another sequel. Since then it has been rather quiet on that front except with the sub par AVP: Extinction coming out. But as I recall, that was never meant to be AVP3 either. Supposedly the movie did well enough despite the critics to consider going ahead with more on the gaming front.
Then again Fox is a Hollywood company and they change their minds more often than you can blink in an hour. |
