Syndicate
This releases late this month apparently. I never played the original, but this new one looks pretty decent. Definitely could put a bit of fun back into FPS genre. Anyone else picking it up?

I played about 3 minutes of the demo last night. Honest to god just looked completely generic. Everything was grey and blocky, and my dude could take a hundred bullets before I ran around a corner to magically regenerate health. I shall explore it further as I suspect I didn't give it time enough. But I want isometric Syndicate back

I'll download the demo this weekend, but I fear I may mirror Sicamon's sentiment.

Damn, that sucks. It looks pretty fun in the trailers... But I think I'll get a demo of it first. I hope it is good because I need a good new game. I'm starting to get bored and shit, haha.

Gah, never made it back home this weekend. Too busy frolicking in the snow in the countryside. So it's a co-op demo, right? You can play through the demo with friends? That should be fun.

OK, I've played the demo. I get absolutely NO Syndicate vibe from this game. The mise-en-scene, the gameplay, the fine detail, I couldn't see anything that was even homage to the original games.
Having said that, it's great fun. The difficulty level is designed to challenge 4 co-op players, and that makes a welcome change. Too often the difficulty level in co-op games is set so the game can still be solo'ed. Add in 3 more players and it's a walk in the park. Not so with this demo. Not only do you need 4 players, they genuinely have to work together to survive and progress. Key words there. It's a little like taking the survival game mechanic and adding progression. It's enjoyable mayhem and worth the download. What the full game will be like is anyone's guess. |

If this is what they've done to Syndicate, I'd dread to see what would happen to Dungeon Keeper if they decided to resurrect it....

Found out Cannon Fodder 3 was out and checked gameplay trailer on youtube.
Looked horrible, reminded me of the WoW'ification of Diablo. Why do they bring these games back if they don't even bother to make them properly. In other news: I've been playing EYE divine cybermancy recently and while bugged, dialogue is a joke and all of that I'm finding it to be a masterpiece. Brings me back to the good old days when you actually needed to figure things out in games and the mechanics were complex enough to remain interesting throughout the whole game. Not to mention I love the cyberpunk feel of it. |

Funnily enough I've just pre-ordered this.
Reminds me a little of The Italian Job "remake". Nothing that qualified it as a remake, barely a homage, yet a solid film in its own right and probably deserving of its own title. Same with this one. But I still want a proper Syndicate remake, GTA-style, hovercars, skyscrapers, Persuadatrons.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking; that it might be good in its own right even though it scarcely resembles the original.

I was wondering where this game is, looking around and it's nowhere. I haven't been keeping up with news recently, but I looked it up and... oh, it's been banned here. Well, that figures. The illogical, censor-nazi of the classification board strikes again. WHY. CAN'T. THIS FUCKING. COUNTRY. FUCKING. GROW. UP?

Ok, imported it. Yay! I'm excited to play it now.
Oh but I have to install Origin to play it. I DON'T WANT FUCKING ORIGIN. That shit is not needed and doesn't even work...... oh, fuck. Ok, installed and played some of it. I think it's a really fun game. Like Deus Ex but without the boring crap. I'd say more about the game, I really enjoy it despite what reviews say, but EA just shits me up the wall. I really see why people pirate their games; it's just so much less painful! There needs to be some fucking laws in place allowing people whether or not they want to download software with the game. People should have the right to play the game AS IS off the shelf. I'll be uninstalling Origin once I finish the game and probably pirate everything else they release from then on. |

I haven't even tried the sp campaign, tbh. I've been hammering co-op since day one. It's strangely addictive, like rallying with guns. My syndicate, aptly named Viagra after its blue pill logo, has just broken into the top 200 in the world and is hurtling towards the top 100. I'd invite you, PsyKore, but I'm on the PS3 version.

Oh bugger, wish I got the PS3 version. I haven't tried co-op yet. I don't know many people who play PC, everyone's on console... But I'll see if I can game with some randoms later, or something.
Anyway, I finished the campaign last night. It's extremely short but very very fun while it lasts. I think the gameplay is pretty solid in this game. Although, the underlying strategy element with breaching could have been utilized more effectively. Being able to make enemies kill themselves or persuading them to fight for you is very cool, but I felt they could have offered more puzzle type areas where you really need to use those powers in order to progress. Also, I would have liked the level design to offer more routes to take and maybe feel a bit more open, as the game is very straight down a path. But this game is pretty much run-and-gun, and for what it is, it is very fun. The story is pretty typical and some of the plot reminded me of Robocop, lol. Honestly, I didn't care about the story; it's been done to death. I was just content running through the techno-sleek world gunning, executing, chip-corrupting everyone in my way. Oh, and also, Michael Wincott! I fucking love that guys voice! But overall, I think it's heaps of fun. There's things that could be better, and some aspects of the game that feel like they haven't been taken to their full potential, but I enjoyed it regardless. |

Viagra syndicate whizzed passed the 150 mark last night. Thanks for the review of sp campaign, PsyKore, based on that I think I'll actually give it a try!
