The gameplay, visuals and sound seemed amazing back in 2008, but now they look run of the mill tbh.

You have a point. But I'm willing to take a gamble with the looks if the gameplay is exceptional, and its looking to be. I'll give Blizzard another chance with this game, and I'm sure the multiplayer won't let me down.

It was definitely in development way too long, I'll second that.

SC 2 was in development for more than diablo 3 and look what they've acomplished with it.blizzard showed to the gaming industry that graphics alone won't make a game awesome.

Personally I can't wait, definitely getting it on day one, been waiting many years for this

Like The Marinator says, it's not just about the graphics, heck I thought Diablo 2 had sub-par graphics but the gameplay was fun and addictive. Friends of mine have played the beta and they absolutely love the game, so I think Diablo fans are in for a treat

I'm just glad it didn't take as long as StarCraft 2 to come out.

Aye. 2008, amigo. Since then it's hardly developed at all, as far as I can tell. And since then we've had Magicka, which was an ingenious little Diablo-clone with a refreshingly humorous twist and had surprising genre innovations.

So although Diablo 3 still looks like a solid Diablo-clone imo, I don't feel compelled to buy it now, whereas in 2008-2010 I was chomping at the bit for it.

Might be one for a LAN party though...

Just tried the open beta and got to Level 5 before the servers went offline. Gotta say it doesn't feel much different from previous entries...

Sad to say but I tried the beta and the graphics are weak for 2012 and the gameplay feels like an even more watered down version of its predecessor, you don't even have to click on gold to pick it up, you just run over it and there are items that increase your effectiveness at automatically picking up gold....I was hoping for a little more innovation, and the graphics in the videos looked 10 times better than this beta, and I have the graphics maxed out....I'll still buy it 'cause I'm a big fan of the storyline and the world in general, but man what a let down, I've been waiting years for this

This doesn't seem like the Blizzard that I know and love. I fear that Blizzard has grown too huge for its own good, to the point where they've lost that special something that made their games unique. I mean look at 'Mists of Pandaria' and now this, their last great game was 'StarCraft 2' but it's not looking too good from this point on, and I've never been disappointed by their games, ever. Anytime a concept (or company) becomes too mainstream it loses its uniqueness and soul, and I hate to say this but it appears Blizzard has gone down this path. Much of it of course is to blame on ActiVision and its soulless CEO that sucks the worth and meaning out of much of its products, merging with them was the biggest mistake they've ever made and my fears have come true. Blizzard should've stayed independent, they were far better back then.

I wish I'd stuck with my initial gut feeling and avoided it as well. I wanted to believe the game I grew to love was still there...but alas it was not.

Waste of time, get's boring fast. No good drops, leveling system sucks ass, and stupid dumb lag will fuck up everything.

Blizzard loves to troll people playing on hardcore with their fucked up laggy servers for extra lulz, then nerfs everything when you have some semblance of how things like crit. damage and bosses HP works for even more lulz.

Fuck this game hard. And single player requires Internet connection? Fuck you. I won't buy a blizzard game again- their era of making good games has all since passed.
