Supporting Characters that stole the show

You know, I was watching the Incredibles with a few friends. As we were watching it, the scenes with Edna stole the series. We were talking with that bad access all day- going 'Dah'link' and just having fun. Came to think about it and realized that- in that movie- Edna was beyond all my favorite character. The glory of her 'hideout,' the awesomeness of her sculptures, the lab- she rocked. I'd watch the movie again for her scenes.

Then realized... sometimes its the supporting characters that outdo the rest in a film. So, what characters in what series/movies did you think well outdid the main cast or was so much cooler then anyone else in the movie?

the first one that comes to mind is nightcrawler in x men 2. besides the fucking token european/eastern european accent he was magnificent. really dug the teleporting and his tentative approach to such a prodigious talent

I think it's hilarious that if you cut out all the Jokers scenes in the latest Batman movie it it would have been the most boring movie of the year.

this doesn't quite count - i think all the marketing was going to focus on the joker until Ledger died, and harvey and batman had their own moments in that film - although it is true that the joker was the absolute best thing about that movie and his controlled fury did make the others seem somewhat dull and orderly by comparison

The whole Olivia/Viola storyline was incredibly boring. When you're in Year 9, studying Shakespeare, the mental breakdown of a manservant is far more fun.

I wouldn't consider Parker a supporting character though. Remember, we really only consider Ripley the "main character" of Alien because she's the protagonist throughout the series. The first film was done with an ensemble cast, which meant that anyone could have survived. Hell, next time you watch the film, put your mind in the objective state of someone who hasn't seen any of the movies and knows nothing of them. You would never know from the start.

that's one of the reasons alien is so good, i guess most people would think ian holm would survive until the twist
