Looks like we'll be getting a television series of this great line of books from AMC and Frank Darabont. Hopefully it won't be crap.

I wonder if they'll replicate the utter hopelessness of the series, along with building up characters we love only to kill them off horribly

When I started to read the first page of this excellent comics, I immediately thought "this would make an perfect series... after all, budgets do not need to be gargantuan, and the story would be ideal for a series' type of narrative". Hollywood heard the power of my mind !

This is awesome news. People have been clammering for HBO to adapt it for ages. I'm glad it's finally going ahead - although I wonder how long it'll run for. The comic series has been ongoing for years already.

Well, AMC may not claim the same quality as HBO, but they sure have ambitions. Mad Men & Breaking Bad share the same flaws (bordering on boredom), but they also share the same quality (political uncorrectness and excellent acting).

Sexy times! Number 8 of the series was one of teh biggest emotional sucker punches in any series ive read/watched. Shame number 9 was so uneventful in comparism. Still, great news.

i've only read up to number 6 so far but it's fairly awesome. i'm very glad that the zombies are kinda just there, they aren't the main problem, just an excuse for society to collapse. same with y: the last man.

I just finished reading the 4th hardcover book about a month and a half ago. I prefer to just buy the hardcovers rather than collect the many smaller collections...although I know that means I'm behind in the series.

yeah but only barely. so far heres the walking dead collections available

you've got the single issues
trade paper backs
the books (which comprise several tpbs)
the compendium (issues 1-48 in one big book)

i tried to find the compendium everywhere since it apparently goes for 40 bucks, but it's out of print til october and has been for a few months.

Like Renegade, I buy all the hardcover editions....but I'm kinda scratching my head as to when Book 5 is going to be published. No sign of it on Amazon, even as a pre-order.

Jesus I just read the latest issue, 62, and just when i think i cant be surprised Kirkman does it again. i like how no one is truly safe in this series... man woman child... they all die. Walking Dead 10 shouldve came out this week so i can only figure Book 5 should be out before years end. This series should be good i just hope they film it with the intentions of releasing it on DVD, ive not seen the Breaking Bad or Madmen discs are they completely uncensored?

Just finished Issue #64 - it's getting quite eventful again. Shame I have to wait another fucking month to find out what happens next

Yeah, I'm waiting for Book #5 as well. It bothers me that there's no regular publishing schedule for them.

Bah, according to Amazon, Book 5 is scheduled for a January 2010 release. That's a bit bullshit...
