The 9 disc set includes episodes I-VI and what I can only assume at this point to be a shit ton of additional special features. It's still sort of vague at this point: "30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more."

No word yet if the set includes the unaltered, original theatrical presentations of the Original Trilogy, but I think they learned their lesson the last time, and I'm sure there will be plenty more tweeks to the damn special editions but I'm also sure they want to evade fanboy anger and throw in the unmolested versions as well. Though I doubt the picture/sound quality will be as good, but we can hope that this time it will actually be compatible with widescreen televisions FFS.

And some good news, if you're the type that foams at the fucking mouth at the mere mention of the prequel trilogy, they're releasing two separate trilogy boxsets of the blu-rays in addition to the complete set, which I think is a very, very nice gesture, don't you? And a good sign that they're going into this with at least a little respect and understanding of fans of the original trilogy.


But anyway, I can't say I'm insanely excited, mostly because it's so fucking far away into the future. But I'm definitely looking forward to the set, and fuck it, I'll probably get the set with all 6.

I don't mind the slight changes/CG effects they did for the original trilogy EXCEPT:

- Changing Boba Fett's voice so he sounds like Mad Max is annoying.
- FUCK YOU YOUNG ANAKIN AT THE END OF ROTJ. FUCK YOU. YOU ARE STUPID AND MAKE NO SENSE.

If they got rid of those things, I would buy these blu-ray versions. As it is, if they don't, I'll stick with my DVDs.

If they really wanted to be comprehensive they should include the following:

-The original, unaltered versions
-The 1997 special editions
-The 2004 special editions
-whatever new shit they're doing


What are the odds they'll redo Yoda's scenes in Empire, Jedi, and Phantom Menace and make him 100% CGI?

That and the added Jabba the Hut in the first one where he meets Han near his Falcon, it looked way too CGI.

The Mos Eisley renewed city, now it looks like a thriving metropolis while in the original it looked like a lone western town with hoodlums.

The new explosions don't jive with the original space battles, too flashy.

Less is more, and sadly this is something Lucas doesn't get.

I'm kind of worried about these Blu-rays, how will the sets/costumes/make up look in HD? Other, older movies that have received this treatment look fake because all the flaws become apparent in high res. I might rent them out of curiosity but I already own the VHS from the early 90s and the re-released originals on DVD with the LE comic book sets, plus the prequels. I can see the prequels benefitting the most from this upgrade, so they might be worth it.

No, Lucas will make it 4 separate "Star Wars- Special Edition Mega Ultimate Compilation Collections!" Because that is how it works, Star Wars is just a money printing prostitute to him now.

I could get over some stuff, some changes I feel are better in fact, like adding more spaceships to the attack fleet at the end of ANH, it makes sense that the rebel alliance would send more than 5 ships to attack.

But at a point it just gets ridiculous, I agree with Ren, young anakin at the end of RITJ pisses me off. Not cool, sebastian Shaw should be there because he turned good at the end and killed the emperor. Having whiney anakin there just says fuck you to darth vaders redemption and sacrifice, the whole point of that scene, what makes it such a good and important and emotinal scene in how the father returns to good to save his son. I MEAN COME ON! WHAT THE FUCK!?

I think Lucas put young Anakin in there purely to draw in the younger crowds, I really can't see him doing it because he felt that part was missing in the original...........But yeah that was one of the things that bothered me the most about the remakes.
