Terminator 4 to be PG13

Now they'll probably try to remarket the original installments, cut the shit out of them and make it one long fucking love story between Reese and Sarah. Though there are facehugger plush dolls which I deem acceptable. I would like a foam Mk1 Hunter-Killer or a T-800 with removable endoskeleton!

I think Hollywood are going down this road of adding to and fucking up our gritty 80's movies franchises with these 12A installments in which later on they'll release an uncut so it puts the rating back up and think that the fanboys won't mind.

I guarantee there'll be so much CGI in T4 will make not just your eyes bleed but from every pore in your body. I'm wondering if Bale's wondering that the hell he's gotten himself into. Either that or he's putting it down to his one golden-handcuff deal for a bit more recognition.

Then again, how good can it be without Arnold as the Terminator? Arnold IS the Terminator, it'd be like Indiana Jones without Harrison, it just doesn't work.

I'm actually surprised that they made 'AVP: Requiem' Rated R, given that the first one was PG-13, so not everyone in Hollywood has completely lost it.

Oh well, I'll still see it since I'm a huge fan of the trilogy, and Christian Bale's an awesome actor, but this is somewhat dissappointing.

Doesn't matter to me, tbh. There is Terminator and there is T2: Judgement Day. Anything else is fan-fiction.

This news is slightly confusing though. How will the film depict the prerequisite "Terminator gets fleshy bits mangled" scenes?

Since it's the future, I imagine they'll just have T-800's walking around without the skin, and the odd infiltrator they have to put in, they'll probably just blow up, or something.

How did the TV show perform in the ratings? That was a heavily sanitised version, and if that performed well, it might have been what gave them the idea.

Still, this is nothing new. Robocop started out ultra violently and ended as a TV show featuring a cute kid.

Whilst it was ultra-violent, Robocop had it's fair share of humour manifested through comic-bookesque one-liners, hyper-generic slogans, ridiculously callous attitudes towards the lower class and pokes fun at more and more extreme methods of security. Exaggerated paranoia.

Terminator was much more gritty in the beginning and didn't have a lot of time for humour until T2. Even then, it's humour was through uncharacteristic charm at times which still felt relevent to the moment and not outrageous.

T3's humour was frequently unnecessary where they forgot how to charm so much as a thin attempt at humanising the T-800 even more. That didn't work too well. What McG'll do for the next I can only assume will be franchise threatening.

i remember having T2 action figures, complete with a T-1000 that exploded into a half dozen pieces. now that I think of it, it is kind of odd how they had toys for a rated R movie.

What if at the end of the last film you realize that none of this was real and it was all the dream of some coma patient because the last thing she saw was a snow globe and thus all the terminator business really took place inside the snow globe at her bedside or however that old hospital show ended.
