( READ ATTACHED PRESS RELEASE ) Take-Two publishing label, 2K Games, and Bethesda Softworks have announced that Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth has shipped throughout North America for the Xbox. Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth is a first-person horror game, one inspired by the writing of H.P. Lovecraft, and sets players during the 1920s.
Set during the 1920s, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is based on the Cthulhu Mythos inspired by the writing of H.P. Lovecraft, an American fantasy and horror writer. Lovecraft, whose work has profoundly influenced numerous fantasy and science fiction writers including Stephen King and Anne Rice, tells stories of unthinkable evil, psychic possession and mythical worlds. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is developed by Headfirst Productions and produced in conjunction with Chaosium Inc., the publishers of the classic Call of Cthulhu pen and paper RPG.

Headfirst Productions' powerful technology enables Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth to be presented as an incredibly detailed and accurate depiction of the sights and sounds of this unique 1920's New England setting inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos. A diverse range of cutting-edge special effects is utilized to ensure both unprecedented levels of realism and a thorough portrayal of the character's mental degradation.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth will make its European debut on October 28th, 2005. The games official website has additional information.

Hey, I thought this title didn't even have a publisher last month? Or is that another CoC title?

VE are reporting it's going to the PC in the next month or so according to Bethesda. Also OXM UK scored this game 7.8/10 if anyone cares.

This game is like 4 years too late. The screenshots, last I looked, look very dated.

Graphics don't make a game good you of all people should know that LT
#10 - Talon - 10/24/05 @ 03:11 PM EST
Honestly, I'm shocked the game ever was released. Oh, and VE is still around, but they mostly just link to worthlessplaying, and throw in a few random stories.

Whoa, this game has been in limbo for years, then all of a sudden it's released? Looks like crap now too.

Meh, rental at best. Too bad, it looked promising when it was first announced.

Eidolon -

But they make taking the pill that is gameplay that much easier to swallow. Graphics make up a huge part of the overall experience. If you are lacking graphically, you will have to do something truly amazing to get the normal gamer interested in you. Cthulu isn't well known out of nerdum, and the graphics are sub par in this day and age, so it will fail.

"Well, the wait is finally over, as Dark Corners of the Earth will be shipping this week for Xbox. It appears that PC and PS2 versions of the game are no longer set for release, so if you need your dose of impending soul-crushing Lovecraftian horror, now's the time."

Looks like we may not get a PC release at all.
